We have been doing some solar panel tests with the new Sensirion SEN5X series plugged into the SCK. This is a experimental and small version of the kit that only has a connector for the PM sensor (no Urban Board), which now also supports temperature and humidity in the PM sensor module itself. The idea is to have a very simple kit, that can measure PM (Sen50), T, H, and maybe NO2 (Sen54) and VOC index (Sen55 all of the above). NO2 and VOC are still quite experimental, but in general its all working pretty well, especially for PM, T, H. T
This is a photo of the kit in action, in a 3D printed enclosure designed to protect the kit, and to be made with simple tools available at home (more ok that on a different post).
The kit is powered with a very small solar panel (4W), and has been running for a while at our rooftop: https://smartcitizen.me/kits/18206
Couple of days ago, we saw that PM data went flat to 0, and got a bit nervous…
It turns out, that the Sensirion SEN5X series, similar to the PM5003, is still a good home for spiders…
